Living Powerfully

Last week we began the message series, “Heroic Living” where the scripture text we are focusing on is in Ephesians chapter 6 verses 10 through 18. In these verses we learn that our spiritual struggle in life is not circumstantial. It is not a matter of our own personal weakness, or of a world that offers too much temptation, and is unfriendly to the life that God’s calls us, as his followers, to live.

There is a personal opponent that wants to mess you up in life and he does not want you to enjoy following Christ and tries to make you ineffective as God’s child and witness in the world. This opponent’s name is Satan, “the father of lies”.

How are we to overcome these challenges in life and overcome the temptations that are thrown at us day in and day out? How are we to handle the situations where we sometimes feel powerless to the circumstances around us, even some that the devil places in our way?

One of the great truths of being one of God’s followers through Jesus Christ is that you have a continual supply of dynamic, energetic working power that is fully sufficient for everything you face and everything that is thrown at you. Listen to today’s teaching where we learn about strength and the power of God.

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
